WAGE GARNISHMENTS & LEVIES · SPOKANE, WA & THE INLAND NORTHWEST

IRS wage garnishment and levy help in Spokane: stop the bleeding first, then fix the cause.

A wage garnishment or bank levy is the IRS collecting by force because earlier notices went unanswered. It can often be released quickly — sometimes within days — once a licensed representative gets on the phone with the IRS and puts a resolution in motion. Our enrolled agents and tax attorneys do exactly that, then handle the underlying debt so it doesn't happen again.

WHAT IT IS

A garnishment takes part of every paycheck; a levy seizes what's in an account. Both are IRS collection actions, and both can be released once a resolution is in place.

WHO IT HAPPENS TO

People who received a Final Notice of Intent to Levy and didn't respond within 30 days — usually because the mail went unopened or the amount felt impossible.

WHAT IT COSTS TO START

Nothing. The first case review is free, and active garnishment cases go to the front of the line.

HOW IT WORKS

Four steps.
Speed first.

When your paycheck is being taken, the order of operations matters. We stop the collection action first, then resolve the debt behind it — with every fee quoted in writing.

1

Same-day case review

Tell us what's being garnished or levied and which notices you've received. Bring the unopened envelopes; we'll read them together.

2

Power of attorney and IRS contact

You sign Form 2848, and from that point the IRS deals with us. We contact the assigned collection unit to request a release and establish a resolution.

3

Release and protection

A garnishment can be released once a payment plan, hardship status, or other resolution is in place. Bank levies are time-sensitive: the bank holds the funds for 21 days before sending them to the IRS, and that is the window we work within.

4

Resolve the balance

With collection stopped, we address the debt itself — an installment agreement, currently-not-collectible status, penalty abatement, or an offer in compromise if you qualify.

A garnishment is a symptom. We treat the cause.

Some firms will get a levy released and call it a win. But the IRS only garnished you because a balance went unaddressed, and that balance is still there. Without a resolution in place, the garnishment comes back.

Our work isn't finished when your paycheck is restored. It's finished when you have an agreement with the IRS you can actually keep, your unfiled returns are in, and the letters stop coming.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED PLAINLY

What people ask us
about garnishments and levies.

How fast can a wage garnishment be stopped?

It depends on the case, but once we hold your power of attorney and can show the IRS a workable resolution, releases are often issued within days rather than weeks. Employers typically stop the withholding the pay period after they receive the release.

The IRS levied my bank account. Is the money gone?

Not yet. Your bank must hold levied funds for 21 days before sending them to the IRS. If we can establish a resolution or demonstrate economic hardship inside that window, the levy can be released and the funds returned.

Can the IRS take my whole paycheck?

No. The IRS leaves you an exempt amount based on your filing status and dependents — but it is small, often far less than your real living expenses. That's why an active garnishment is treated as urgent.

Will hiring you stop the IRS from contacting me?

Once you sign a power of attorney, the IRS is required to deal with us directly. The letters and calls come to our office instead of your kitchen table.

I'm in Idaho or Montana, not Washington. Can you help?

Yes. Federal representation isn't limited by state lines, and we handle garnishment and levy cases across Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana by phone and secure document upload.
